In this episode we will hear about another outstanding member of the Great Vietnam Veteran Generation, Jim Dunn, being honored at an event in Michigan on Thursday, October, 2015. A story from the Lansing State Journal titled: Vietnam hero honored 50 years later submitted by Judy Putnam is featured. In the story Putnam tells about Dunn who is an attorney in East Lansing being honored for his work with the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. He will be honored Thursday evening with the Veteran Tribute from the Volunteers of America.
The article also covers some of Dunn’s experiences in Vietnam and how he was awarded four Distinguished Flying Crosses and many other awards. Even though Dunn feels he did not do anything special, when you hear his story it will become obvious he did engage in heroics and showed he cared greatly for the enlisted personnel he worked with.
It is highly recommended that you attend the event if you are in the vicinity of East Lansing, Michigan because not only does it honor an outstanding Vietnam Veteran but it will also raise funds to support the two state-run homes for 750 veterans in Grand Rapids and Marquette.
Volunteers of America is the state’s largest non-government provider of veterans services. The award raises funds for work with homeless vets.
Tickets to the Veteran Tribute are $100 each with discounts for veterans ($50) and active-duty military ($25). Registration is accepted at the door or contact Renee Jones at (517) 489-5278 or email@example.com.
