America is a great country where there is a new day dawning for a greater appreciation of it’s great Vietnam Veteran Generation. Events are being held across the country where the Vietnam Veterans are receiving the respect and appreciation they have yearned to see for many years. In this episode one of those commemorative events being held in the Tampa Bay area will be highlighted. It is described in an article from the Tampa Tribune titled: Honoring Vietnam Veterans and their families. The article was submitted by Suzanne M. Klinker. She is the director of the entire Bay Pines VA Healthcare System.
In the article Klinker reminds us that in 2008 Congress authorized the secretary of defense to establish and conduct a commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. She is announcing the first event to be held in conjunction with the commemoration to be held at Bay Pines VA Healthcare System. It will be an unveiling of a commemorative wall display at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center. That will take place at 8:30 am on Tuesday, March 29.
She reports that the second and larger commemoration event is scheduled for April 5 beginning at 10 am again at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center at Bay Pines. There will be speakers at this event including the keynoter, retired Army Command Sergeant Major and Medal of Honor recipient Gary L. Littrell along with U.S. Representative David W. Jolly who represents Congressional District 13 of the great State of Florida.
The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is a huge facility. It includes one large medical center and eight outpatient clinics staffed by 4100 employees. Last year the system treated 108,000 veterans and completed 1.4 million appointments.
All Vietnam Veterans and interested personnel in the Tampa Bay area are encouraged to attend these commemorative events at the Bay Pines facility. CLICK HERE for more information.
