This episode of the podcast will take a look at how Vietnam Veterans are to be honored at Big Rapids, Michigan on March 29. A story about the planned event appeared in The Pioneer and was titled: AM Legion Post 98 to host annual Vietnam Veteran’s Day rifle salute. The story was submitted by Olivia Fellows, a staff writer for the Pioneer.
Fellows reports that: This year Big Rapids AM Legion Post 98 will continue its tradition of honoring those who served in the Vietnam War.
Residents can join local veterans in recognizing these heroes with the presentation of honors at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, in Holland Park Veterans & Homefront Heroes Memorial by the American Legion Post 98 Honor Guard Rifle Team.
Immediately following the honors presentation, a free luncheon at AMVET Post 1941, 320 S. 4th Ave., will be offered in observance of the day.
The local honor guard, made up of volunteer veterans of all service branches, provides memorial services including rifle firings on military commemorative dates, as well as offering the families of deceased discharged veterans official military honors during burial.
All in the Big Rapids area of Michigan are encouraged to attend this event to show appreciation to all or Vietnam War Veterans.
