Episode 2466 of the Vietnam Veteran News Podcast will feature story about how National Vietnam War Veterans Day will be celebrated in Barrington, Illinois.
This podcast has taken on the task of informing as many as possible about the upcoming National Vietnam War Veterans Day. In previous episodes, announcements about how the Day will be celebrated in Fayetteville, NC, Baton Rouge, LA, Hillsboro, Ohio, Media, Pennsylvania and Boring, Oregon have been featured.
This episode of the podcast will take a look at how Vietnam Veterans are being honored in Barrington, ILL this March 29. A story about the event appeared in the Chicago area Daily Herald and was titled: Help DAR Chapter Place Flags on Vietnam War Veterans’ Graves. It was submitted by Ruth Groth.
The Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR is in charge of the ceremonies. They invite all Veterans and members of the public to attend the National Vietnam War Veterans Memorial Day Service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Evergreen Cemetery, 600 Dundee Ave., Barrington, IL. Registration is not required.
Groth reported that a brief program will feature representatives from local VFW, American Legion, and Lake Barrington Shores veterans’ organizations; state and local officers from the Daughters of the American Revolution; and Barrington village officials. After the playing of taps, 41 Vietnam War Veterans interred at the Evergreen Cemetery will be honored.
Volunteers will place a flag on each of the graves while saying the veteran’s name, thanking him or her for their service, and giving them a salute. The DAR will have flags at the event for those who wish to place them.
