At a recent celebration in Minsk marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Aleksandrovich Sivak emphasized Vietnam’s unparalleled importance as Belarus’ top priority partner in Southeast Asia. This grand event, attended by nearly 400 dignitaries, officials, diplomats, and Vietnamese expatriates, showcased the deep-rooted friendship and enduring respect between the two nations.
Deputy PM Sivak praised Vietnam’s heroic journey toward independence, freedom, and national reunification—an inspiring legacy to which Belarus, as part of the former Soviet Union, proudly contributed. He hailed the elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership during Party General Secretary To Lam’s state visit to Belarus in May as a historic milestone that reflects profound political trust and a shared vision for prosperity. Sivak affirmed Belarus’ unwavering commitment to realizing the agreements between both nations’ leaders.
Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung echoed this sentiment, recalling President Ho Chi Minh’s 1945 Declaration of Independence and its timeless affirmation: “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom.” He highlighted Vietnam’s deep appreciation for Belarus’ long-standing solidarity and viewed the new Strategic Partnership as a powerful platform for future cooperation.
The event was a vibrant celebration of Vietnamese greatness, culture, and resilience. Traditional performances, cuisine, and anthems sung by Vietnamese children born in Belarus symbolized the unity of the two peoples. An exhibition on Vietnam’s heritage and friendship with Belarus added depth to the festivities.
This landmark event not only honored Vietnam’s historic triumphs but also reaffirmed its rising stature on the global stage and the strength of its enduring bond with Belarus.
